Snakes on a porch

Yep, that's right, snakes on a porch, twice. But not mine. Our neighbor Traci opens her front door yesterday afternoon to go to the grocery store. There, right by her porch are 2 snakes, black and white. She screams and goes back inside. Meanwhile snakes are starting up the step to the porch. Husband Steve, grabs a shovel and wrangles the snakes into the hedge by the driveway. Snakes are gone, Traci goes to the store, kids continue to play. And Greg heads over to play.
Traci returns from the store and kids make their way inside the house. Not much later Halli and Greg open the front door to go outside. Snake on the porch! Slam the door. Steve opens the door with the snake hanging in front of the door hissing at him. Time to take action and no details given here. But one snake is taken care of.
Note that in between events, Steve looked up the snakes on the internet and they are California King Snakes.
Tom gets home and Greg is called home for dinner. Only a few bites into dinner and Traci comes over. Snake #2 has ventured onto the porch and making an attempt to get inside the house. No details, but snake #2 is taken care of.
Now just a few days earlier, I see my other neighbor, Babak and Zuko, come running over to my house and knock on the door. I follow him outside and into the street by his house. He had seen a big snake in the street. When we got there it was gone. Probably into the drain hole in the curb. More than likely one of the 2 snakes who reappeared on Sunday.
The only snake I have seen here was a little baby King snake many years ago. It was maybe 6" long. Greg and I scooped it into a little box and after showing it to some neighbors put it over the back fence to go play with the other critters back there.
Skunk, raccoon, gopher, possums (2 inside the neighbors house), snakes............what's it going to be next??? We do have our share of lizards and frogs, but those are harmless. In my opinion.
Next time you go to take a step out your front door..........beware!! Snakes are lurking around.
