Kaydee

First, just a little background on our dog K (short for Kaydee). The kids had been wanting a dog, me too. We had been looking all over www.petfinder.com and found some cute dogs. We finally convinced Tom that we needed a dog. I wanted a dog that was a little older so we didn't have to go through the puppy training. We found a dog on http://www.greatpets.org/ which is New Beginnings for Animals. We met the first dog but he didn't take to the kids so we were introduced to Kaydee. It was mutual love at first sight. She was all over the kids licking them and running around with them.

Fast forward to 2 years later and K is definitely our dog and knows this is her home. She is very possessive - her yard, her gate, her kids, her family, her house. She is so sweet and well mannered and good with the kids, but is the Alpha Female with other dogs. I don't know all her past but know that she was in a shelter in San Diego before she was rescued by New Beginnings. She was with them for more than 6 months until we found her. So, being the foster child, I know she is glad to have a home and family of her own. She is lacking those early doggie social skills but we know what we need to work on.

So, what I am getting at is that K by nature is a hunter - gopher, possum and of course poor Cracker. She still noses around the birds and has to be outside if they are out of the cage. And now with Mr. Whiskers, poor dog. Whiskers house just happened to be on the end table by K's couch. Mr. Whiskers likes to stick his nose through the bars of his house and did so as K was laying on her couch right next to him. K doesn't really know what to think with the addition of a new furry animal in the house. She is very curious and could get a taste of Whiskers in one mouthful.

Here is Kaydee getting up close and personal with Mr. Whiskers. Greg says he is probably thinking "What the heck is that big black thing that likes to stare at me?"

Oh, did I mention, that Greg bought Mr. Whiskers all by himself, saving his money for a hamster. So, now our family zoo consists of a dog, 2 birds, hermit crab, 4 fish and a hamster. That's it! No rabbits, snakes, guinnie pigs, nada.............
