It's Saturday ............and it's even hotter

Another hot one, yep, another hot one. It's hotter than yesterday.

Today started early. I woke up at 5am to the sound of Tom's alarm going off. I can't figure out how to turn it off so just keep pushing things until I get it. I also realized Greg was fast asleep in my bed. Don't know when he came in. I dozed on and off, mostly off, until I heard Garrett get up just a tad after 6 am. So, I coaxed Greg back to his bed in his room. It was just too early to get up. But, nope, the boys decided they were up. bummer. I wanted to sleep till at least 7.

the boys got to bed around 10 last night. Later for me as I wanted to catch up on some of my shows, but ended up falling asleep on the couch sometime around midnight.

It was already hot when we got up. Ugh. A hot one. We got the the ball field around 8:30 (Greg likes to be there early). The game was at 10. It was hot during the game, the boys were hot and dragging. But we still won the game 9 - 6. Greg had some great hits and fielding, but not a good pitching game. That's fine. He still played a great game regardless.

Kyle's mom brought hot dogs for after the game so the guys all enjoyed some lunch. Great idea! Johnny asked if Greg wanted to stay and pratice with him and his dad. Of course Greg said yes. I sat in the enclosed dugout reading my book and trying not to fall asleep. It was just so hot. Too hot!

Well, we finally made it home, had some left over pizza for lunch then, went to Bears, Buddies and Beyond in Rancho. The store was so nice and cool and we just browsed around. Greg got some erasers him and his friends are enthralled with and he also gave me his cute face that I can't say no to and got himself a cue penguin that he got to stuff. After that it was to Kohl's for shoes and clothes. By then I was so tired and in no mood to shop. But I still got some cute things and have to try them on.

We stopped at Blockbuster and got Alvin and the Chimpmunks. I took a nap in the recliner while watching AFV. I'm still so tired. Greg is too. Just drained from this heat. Too tired to do much of anything else.

I know it will be an early night tonight. Need to figure out something for dinner. Actually cereal sounds pretty good right about now. I'm gonna try on my new clothes, unload the car, download the photos I took today and many other days.

you know the list I made the other day, well, mostly everyting is checked off. Yea me!! I got most of it done on Friday. yea me!! But no running today. It's hot, I feel like jello and in no mood to get out there and pound the pavement. But tomorrow I will. Yes, I will. I hope I will.

Well, I have just rambled on and on and on and on as I really didn't feel like doing much of anything else. Other than drinking another huge glass of ice tea.

It's Friday.....and it's a hot one too

Temperatures are climbing today. Go figure, Monday it was cold and raining. No wonder everyone has sinus problems and colds. Oh vey!

I'm taking a few minutes for lunch, enjoying a nice hot bowl of lentil soup, home made of course. Why soup on a hot day? No reason. I love soup, I love lentil soup, I have a lot of it in the freezer, I was hungry and didn't really have anything else that sounded good at the moment. And when the soup was cooking, I cleaned the kitchen floor and put a load of laundry in the dryer.

I had my last doctor visit with the surgeon today. Everything is going as it should with my hand. My scar is looking good, strength and range of movement is coming back, good feeling in my hand, no pain shooting up my arm. Good! I asked about the scar tissue as it's still hard under the incision area. Could take up to a year to go away. This is 3 months post surgery so still some time to go for that. But I keep doing my exercises and massaging. My fingers and wrist are moving much better.

What's up for the weekend: baseball and down time. Garrett is coming over tonight for a sleep over. He will be here plenty early so the guys will have time to practice some baseball and do guy stuff. then the plan is to chill out with a movie or 2 and be relaxed for the game tomorrow. Greg is so excited!

Evelyn Tom leave this afternoon for Adventure Mountain. Evelyn is packed and also so excited. So are her friends at school who are going. Giddy bunch of girls! Go Eagles! We are the Eagles, the mighty mighty Eagles. (that's all I know of the cheer)

My goals for the weekend. (I wanted to write them down so I stay on track)
Friday before 4:00:
*finish up work at 3 when the kids get home
*vaccuum the house
*finish putting the clean sheets on the beds
*dust the office (yuck! things get so dusty here and for some reason the office is the worst. I go around it with a wet cloth to get all the dust up)
* fold the last few loads of laundry
*finish sorting through the stack of school stuff in the kitchen
*have everything ready for baseball
* then for the rest of the evening, chill out, read, watch the Kite Runner (loved the book!)

Saturday
*baseball
*shop for shoes for Greg, summer clothes for me, curtains for Greg's room (or a new blind)
*chill out and hang out with Greg, maybe see a movie
*run 3 miles

Sunday
*baseball practice in the morning
*run 3 miles
*chill out and hang out with Greg

Anytime:
*download pictures from camera
*finish putting pictures from hard drive onto external hard drive
*clean bird cage
* work in the garden
*figure out what to do the with furniture in the garage.
*keep searching for the lost phone

tick tock, tick tock, time is ticking away. Back to work and my soup. mmmm-mmmm-good. Oh, and there is mail man, let's go see if he brought us anything good. Yep, K, you go run out back and bark at him. Lot's of good that's gonna do as he is zipping by in the mail truck. But that's your job, keeper of the gate and barker to anyone who passes by. Now, please just stop digging up my back yard! I don't like the gophers either, but you make bigger holes than they do and I have the clean the clobs of dirt out from between your toes.

Have a safe and fun weekend and keep cool!

Checking in and feeling somewhat accomplished

It's Thursday, and more then half way though the week. I'm feeling somewhat accomplished this week. It's been another busy week but getting things done. Feeling accomplished. It's a good thing.

What happened this past week.......

Saturday Dodgers played the Rangers. Rangers were undefeated until after our game. Yep, we beat the Rangers. Going into the 6th inning it was 3 - 1. Rangers had 2 outs, one man on base, and oops, over the fence HR, to tie the game. Dodgers were home team and had last ups. Starting at the top of the line up. Greg hit to center field for a single. Few more batters, and Greg had stolen to 2nd. The Rangers decided to walk one of our batters. Pitch dinged off the catchers glove, Greg stole to 3rd, pitcher chucked the ball to 3rd and it was over thrown, so Greg booked it on home, slid into home before the throw got there for a score! This put the score at 4 - 3 Dodgers and we won the game!! Oh my! You should have heard the roar out there. What a game. Greg got the well deserved game ball. He did have a great game!
After game talk with Coach Scott.
Coach Rob passing out the pins.
Coach Rob getting game ball to Greg.
Go Dodgers!
Game ball Dodgers v. Rangers. Yeah Greg!

After the game we went to the hospital as baby Sophia and crew were headed home. Everyone was so ready to be home.

Nathan, Jake, Chrissy and Sophia
Greg and Evelyn and Sophia
She loves to wiggle around and move her tiny legs and hands.
I love baby feet
and baby hands
This sign speaks for itself!
A gathering of cousins, and Tom
Everyone headed out the door. Quite the group we had too.
Family

Sophis really didn't like her car seat.
Lot's of stuff to bring home.
Yep, I guess 3 car seats do fit in the back of the truck.

I spent a good amount of time finishing up Greg's room too. He is happy, as am I. I love the way it turned out too. Now it's time to figure out Evelyn's room. No pictures of the new furniture here as the pictures are on my other memory card and still need to be downloaded.

The sports wall. We, I, put up bamboo fencing along the walls before the furniture was in.
Bulletin board by the desk, and fire helmet from Grandpa Dale
Trophy and stuff book case. There is now a shelf above this, but it was put up after I got the pictures.
Pictures and memorabilia.

Sunday. Mom's Day. After church we went to Eric and Chrissy's for an easy breakfast. Hung out for awhile ohhing and ahhing over Sophia. From there we went to Peppino's on the lake for lunch with the Murphy's. Quite the crowd we had. Good eats, as usual. Greg had practice for his tournament team in the afternoon and Evelyn and I chilled out at home.
Kaydee brought me my Mother's Day card. Evelyn taped my card to K's collar.
Sophia with Grandma Deni and Grandpa Ed (Chrissy's parents)
Sophia checking it out

Sophia and big brother, Jake. A proud big brother. Nathan won't hold still for a photo.
Evelyn (finally!!) getting to hold Sophia.

Monday, we played the Yankees. Although it was a great game, Greg threw 4 or 5 stirke outs, but we didn't win. But that's ok, another great game and great defense by the Dodgers. We are either tied for 2nd with the Yankees or in a good 3rd. This is a good spot to be in going in to the play offs.

Tuesday I had lunch with Michele, Julia and Peyton. It was a great afternoon and a good time to be with friends.

The rest of the week has been kind of quiet. No practice. Have had time at home to get some things done around the house. Accomplishing things. Getting work stuff done too. It's a good thing. I feel like things have been piling up around here and I don't like that. No, I'm not a neat freak, but I like my house to be kept neat and picked up and things to be put away (hear that Evy and Gerg)

The rest of the week.....

Today we are bringing dinner to Eric and Chrissy and hang out there for awhile.

Friday I have a doctor's appointment with the surgeon tomorrow for my final hand check up. Well, I think it's final. That's what I have been told, but things keep changing. I am done with physical therapy but keep doing my exercises daily. I still have a lot of hard scar tissue that I massage. I sure miss that ultrasound machine.

Friday, Evelyn and Tom head to Adventure Mountain for another Adventure Princess weekend. Greg has a game Saturday morning, then tournament practice Sunday. He's been antsy to have Garrett over again. The boys can have some good boy play time without an older sister hanging around. Not like she bugs them anyways, but they (really Greg) pester her.

Me, maybe catch up on some recorded shows and watch some movies and do a few more busy things around the house. Oh, it just never ends. Maybe spend some time in the garden with my hands in the dirt.

Now, if I could just remember where I left that darn phone. I called Chrissy last night and was talking to her out front. Chatted with Janet, took K on a walk up and down the block while the kids were riding bikes, then chatted more with Janet and Babak and Tom, went inside so the kids could get ready for bed and long forgot the phone. Now I have been searhing. I can't hear it beeping when I push the locate button on the charger. Oh yikes, what am I gonna do. Better send out the search party when the kids get home. Speaking of kids, yikes, gotta watch the clock as I have to pick up today.

Happy Thursday and have a super weekend!

Welcome Sophia Christine Dickson

I would like to introduce to you Sophia Christine Dickson, born May 8, 2008 at 4:20 pm, weighing in at 8 pounds 9 ounces. Our sweet baby girl! And congratulations to Mom and Dad, Eric and Chrissy, and big brothers Jake and Nathan. And I must admit, Evelyn is so thrilled to have a new baby girl cousin. We are all thrilled to meet the newest addition to our family :)

Eric (my brother) called me around 11 Thursday morning to say Chrissy was at the hospital. I made it over around 1:30 and had to leave shortly after 2 to get the kids from school. After Greg and Evelyn got their homework done and had a shower, we headed back to the hospital and got there just in time. It was about 4:15. I peeked into the room and got the thumbs up from Deni, Chrissy's mom. Well, about 5 minutes later we heard a nice healthy cry and "It's a girl!!!"

Evelyn and Greg wanted in so bad, but I managed to keep them in the hall with Chrissy's dad Ed until the room was cleared out and we got the all clear. I was so honored to be able to get some of the first pictures of Sophia. She was making a fuss and letting everyone know she had arrived! After she was swaddled and in her mama's arms, she was a happy little camper.

Evelyn and Greg got her foot prints on their arms and can't wait to show them of at school on Friday. They are so proud to be big cousins, again, and now have a little girl cousin.

Everyone was doing just fine when we left and we can't wait to go back and see Sophia, and Chrissy, on Friday.

And, today is Tom's birthday too :) Very special to have a new niece born on his birthday. We went out to dinner at TGI Friday's with Tom's parents. And then a nice surprise at their home as more family were there where we enjoyed cake and ice cream. Thank you again Mary and Clarence for the nice birthday celebration.

Now onto pictures:

Evelyn did not want her picture taken and was a bit upset as she had to wait in the hall.
Greg too. At least he had his book to cover his face with
And here she is! Squirming and yelling and letting everyone know she had arrived today!
Proud papa Eric with his sweet girl
Big cousin Evelyn and Greg with their sweet Sophia
Footprint tatoo, and so proudly showing it off
Greg too. I rolled up his sleeve and he can't wait to show it off at school on Friday.
All swaddled up and already posing for the camera
Proud dad Eric and mom Chrissy with their sweet daughter
Greg and Evelyn, again. They can't get enough of Sophia.
I was hoping to get a photo with her eyes open, almost.
She is looking around, but not my direction. She loves to wiggle.

Oops, Matt. What are you doing here? Evelyn took this picture at Mary and Clarence's house after dinner. Matt goofing around with the kids, as usual. It's fun to have older cousins too, and ones who can show you cool card tricks.

I can't wait to get photos of Nathan and Jake with their new little sister. And I need to get better grandparent photos.

Congratulations Eric and Chrissy. We love you!!

Baby is on the way

Stay tuned for more details. Hopefully later today!!!

Prayers for Chrissy, baby and Eric.

Update at 3:50. I was at the hospital from about 1:30 to 2:10 and then had to leave to get the kids. Now, kids are done with homework and showered, and we are heading back. No word. But I left my camera there.

Will update later tonight.

something fun

Julie got me hooked on a jewelry blog. Charmed Designs. See the link on the side, too lazy to link it here. Then Julie starts making bracelets and earrings. Of course I have to get into the action too. So, here is just a sampling of some of my latest creations. The clasp says "create"

I love them :) Only took about an hour to make al 4. I also made earrings but didn't photo them. I kept one, the other 3 were gifts.

And this is not related to the bracelets........ but leapin' lizards! How did this thing get on the inside of the screen ??? Really, no idea. A few weeks earlier, there was one by the piano. It ran behind the piano. The next day K was sniffing around the curtains, and there it was. We tried to catch the darn thang and it ran into the fireplace. But we ended up catching it under a box and tossed it outside. This thang here, well, I closed the glass door past the lizard, opened the screen door so it could get out, then closed the glass door, locked it and ran out of the house. (we were on our way somewhere) It was gone when we got home. Hopefully no more lizard sightings in the house. Then, there was the frog in Greg's room, but that's another story.

Oh snap out of it already!!

Ok, ok I have. Somewhat. Getting there.
So, I grabbed a snack and my tea.

I love wheat thins with cream cheese and of course the tropical fruit mix from Target. ( I actually had this for lunch too. then Evelyn came home and snatched up the dried fruit too)

Kaydee loves wheat thins too. I think they must be her favorite. She waits patiently, sometimes purring, until I give her some. Yes, my dog purrs. She also barks.

Ahh, then I nice cold glass of iced tea, made by me.
And then my new sweatshirt. Nice and big and comfy and warm.

After I had some crackers and dried fruit, I started feeling somewhat better. But still kept thinking, why? I know I did not run today and that is because I woke up late. I took K on a mile walk (hence her soar hip, which is doing better now). I have been running every morning. That's not it.

Now it hits me, my legs are achey, as is my back. And it's not the need a massage back ache or the ran too much leg ache. It's the I'm getting sick achey feel. Ugh. Just what I need today. Not this weekend. And now my head hurts. Ugh. Its a sickness of some kind.

The kids had a half day at school today and were home around 12:30. I sat them down, told them I wasn't feeling well and have work piled to the ceiling. Please take care of yourself this afternoon, clean up your stuff, and chill out too as we will be out late tonight and up early the rest of the weekend.

Doing good so far, except for the mess. I just don't get it. How come it always has to be as mess. Then I say, "please put away your stuff" and I get the "what you talkin' 'bout Willis" look. "What stuff??" Now it's time for me to go make my mess speech and get the look.

We leave in 3 hours for the game. I can't wait to have a hot dog and nachos!! I will be feeling better then, yes I will. I'm going to finish up a few things and then take a nap. Yep, a nap!!

Happy Blah day

Sorry. That's just how I feel about now. Just a blah day. Ugh. It's been a long and busy week and will be a busy weekend.

Tonight we are going to the Angel game with Greg's team. That will be fun!!!
Greg's furniture arrived and is together and we are still working on getting his room back together. Slowly as I have not had much time. Will do some shopping for him this weekend. I hope.

Oh, and Dodger update.............drum roll please.............Dodgers won! Yes!! Sure needed that to get out of our slump. Boy was it ever a slump. Greg popped out 2x, walked once. Made it home to score a run. He pitched one inning and got no runs on him. He threw strike outs to 2 batters and if memory serves me right, the other batter hit to first base and was forced out. So, way to go Dodgers. You guys sure deserved this win. Let's keep it up!!

Why is today a blah day? I really have no idea. Maybe it's because James had to leave Survivor last night. Maybe it's because I read ER is going to be no more. Maybe it's because I am almost out of shampoo and cereal, and milk and bread. And there is no ice cream in the freezer! Maybe because I have not had a Starbucks Chai today. Maybe because the gardeners are out working in swarms and making so much noise. Maybe because Kaydee's right hip is bothering her again. Maybe because I can not figure out why I have black ink under my fingernail and can't get it off. Maybe because my body can't figure out if it is hot or cold with this crazy weather. Maybe because maybe because. I really don't' know.

While in the shower I got to thinking. Maybe I should make up my own day. Maybe because. Do you know that only Monday and Friday do not have the letter "s" in them. So, let's see, Monday can be Smonday and Friday can be Frisday. It's settled. Now, if I make up my own day, it will also have to have an "s" in it. ssssso, hows abouts Misday. My day with an "s" and spelled the Spanish way. Misday it is then.

I wish today could be Misday. I would not do much of anything today. Nope, not a thing, today.

But, today can not be Misday. Nor can tomorrow, or the next day.. Maybe one day soon I will make it a Misday. Or maybe a partial Misday. That would work.

Please don't let my blah mood wear of on all of yous. It's just me and I sure as heck can have a blah day when I need one, like today. Overworked and underpaid. Now, that's another story. Maybe because of the wonderful conference call I listened in on this morning about our new and improved benefits package. But I won't go there. Nope, won't.

I will go see if my sun tea is ready yet. Yep, it's sunny today. Tomorrow, who knows. Could get snow. Never know. (I made a rhyme!!) have a tall cool glass of tea, brush my hair before it dries all funny looking and get my sweatshirt, because now I am cold again. And better make sure I get the jeans in the dryer before it is time to leave for the game.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. I know I will!!! Yes, I will!!

Just checking in

My weekend was fabulous! I got through all our Florida vacation photos from last summer, and then some! I have to take photos of my favorites so I can proudly show them off.

I did go to Greg's baseball game on Saturday. Greg was up first, walked, stole second and on an overthrow, raced home to score! He pitched one inning, didn't earn any runs and struck out 2 batters. that's my guy! Dodgers did not win and have been in a slump. Hopefully tomorrow's game will be the turning point. We need some more wins before the playoffs.

So, for this week. It's busy and we are on the run all week! Tonight we cleaned out Greg's room and just need Toom to get home to move the furniture out. Greg is getting new furniture Wednesday morning!! He's excited. Me to as we can finally get his room back together. Then it's time to start in Evelyn's room.

Wednesday morning I have my last physical therapy session. But I know all the exercises and do them all the time anyways. Greg's furniture arrives. Greg has a game.

Thursday, I have to work the snack bar at the ball field in the evening. Doing BBQ. Hopefully it is a bit cooler.

Friday, we go to the Angels game with Greg's team. Fun!!

Saturday, game and shopping for flooring for the house.

Sunday, Angel game again.

Not a minute to breathe, well maybe a few minutes. And of course, throw work and homework in there. Whew!

Gotta feed the kids dinner before they have a snack fest and eat all the snacks in the house. And feed the dog. No wonder why she keeps looking at me and licking her chops.

Have a super week everyone :)

Almost there

Oh joy! It is Wednesday. Halfway through the week, and only 2 more days until my wonderful, marvelous scrap weekend. Ahhhh! It's been a long time since I have had uninterrupted time to sit and scrap, and for 3 days straight. Oh joy! I have so much to do and think it's time I concentrate on our Florida vacation from last August. I've got all the photos printed and all the stuff I need (hopefully) and can sit down and jam through that in a day or less.

Of course, Saturday morning, I will be at Greg's game. I don't like to miss the kids events. And I am close enough to home that I can do it. But then, I will make a mad dash back to the hotel to enjoy the rest of the weekend.

We have 24 people attending this weekend. Wow! It grows each time. Time to start looking for a new place where we can expand.

Myself and a few friends started Crops2Remember a little more than a year ago and host scrapbooking weekends locally. We also did a 12 hour crop last November. This will be our 3rd weekend crop. It is so much fun as scrapbooking is something I love to do and I love being able to plan something for other people to attend and enjoy.

I had physical therapy today. My hand strength is coming back. It's up to 20 pounds. After surgery it was only 5 pounds. That's great improvement! It takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months to be back to normal. So, I could have another 4 months recovery ahead of me. But my therapist is pleased with my progress. I have 2 more PT sessions and don't know if I will get any more. But at least I know all the exercises I can do at home. I also have my heat and ice packs. Now if only I could find a nice ultrasound machine like they have. hmmmmm.

Last night we ordered new furniture for Greg. It was not what we had looked at on Saturday, but Greg says he really likes it. I sure hope he does for the next 5 - 10 years. But he has never had any new furniture in his life. It's all been hand me downs. The furniture will be delivered next week so that gives us time to clear out his room again in preparation for the new. At least the painting is all done. After the new furniture arrives we will accessorise and his room will be done. Then it's time to start on Evelyn's. She has been so patient waiting for her turn.

Time to get back to work. As usual, lots to do and the time ticks by way too fast these days.

Enjoy the rest of your week!!

Thank you Everyone

I just want to say thank you to everyone for the birthday cards, e cards and gifts I received yesterday for my birthday. It was a great day.
Typical day, which is just fine with me.
Started with physical therapy for my hand, work and then the after noon dash. Got Evelyn to riding lessons and Greg to the baseball field for his game. We were early so he had time to practice hitting with coach Rob and Drew and more time to play catch. He loves to be there early. As does Evelyn to riding lessons. Evelyn got to ride Jesse. She also got stepped on and swatted with Jesse's tail. But she loves it all no matter what! That is what counts.
My mom brought Evelyn home from riding lessons and got her through the mounds of homework she had. (Thank you!) Tom and I went to dinner while my mom fed the kids and got them to bed.
Tom and I went to Inka Mamma's in Foothill Ranch. I have been wanting to go there for years and finally had the chance. It was soooo good! I had a dish with wheat pasta, onions, peppers, shrimp and cod. Tom had a dish with beef, potatoes and rice. Oh so yummy. I get to finish mine for lunch today and can't wait. Maybe I will just eat lunch now.
Thanks to my dad and Renee I enjoyed a nice hot chai latte at Starbucks this morning. Just the right way to start the day.
I will get out thank you notes next week. Lots to do this week and I'm already feeling stressed.
Have a super week!
